Back to TopLocated just 25 minutes from Mountain Home, Idaho, is one of the tallest freestanding sand dunes in North America, with the highest peak reaching 470 feet. The Dunes offer a variety of activities for all.
Some of these include hiking, sand boarding, fishing for bluegill in the lakes at the foot of the Dunes, or just enjoying a nice, quiet picnic amongst the scenery. The Bruneau Dunes State Park is also home Idaho’s only public observatory. At the Bruneau Dunes Observatory, you can be sure to catch some incredible views of the night sky through a collection of their telescopes.
Whether your trip consists of gazing up at the constellations or scouting for scorpions, be sure to make this a destination trip, complete with a stay at one of the campsites or cabins at the Dunes.
