The Streets Department is responsible for maintaining over 80 miles of paved roads and numerous alleys and right of ways, many of which are not paved. To maintain the Cities roadway system, some of the responsibilities include:

• Pavement maintenance activities consisting of sweeping, cleaning, patching, pavement repair, pavement reconstruction, seal coats, chip seals and crack sealing.
• 
 Traffic control activities consisting of sign installation and replacement, painting and striping, construction signing, cones, barricades and street lights. This also includes installation and maintenance of all pavement markings, handicap markings, railroad markings and crosswalks, stormwater management, alley and right of way activities that include grading, patching, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, concrete replacement, raising settled concrete.
• 
 Stormwater activities consist of storm response issues during storm events as they are already managing the leaves, ice, snow and debris. Stormwater responsibility is shared by the Streets and Wastewater Departments.

CIP Street Projects

The Water Department is responsible for over 79 miles of main line that varies from 2” to 24” pipes, meters & services, distribution, disinfection & sampling, monitoring wells, pumps & backup generators, water storage and fire hydrant maintenance & replacement. The City of Mountain Home has a Class II Idaho Drinking Water System Classification. To maintain a high level of service for our citizens, some of the responsibilities include:

• 
 Meters & services activities consisting of meter installation, replacement, reading, service turn on & turn offs and customer service.
• Distribution of clean drinking water consists of sampling, pressure checks, leak repair, existing line replacements, water system inspections in new developments, and new system construction
• Monitoring wells, pumps & backup generators by telemetry & control systems to each City facility.
• Fire hydrant maintenance & replacement completed on a continual basis including annual maintenance programs, fire hydrant repair and replacement, flushing, raising hydrants, cleaning, greasing, replacing gaskets, inspection services and GPS mapping and imaging in order to meet NFPA fire codes and standards.

The Wastewater Department is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the City’s approximate 74 miles of pipe, which varies from 6″ to 24″ in diameter, collection system, wastewater treatment facility which includes eight active lagoons or cells which hold approximately 400 million gallons of wastewater and covers 206 acres and a 640 acres used for wastewater land application monitored by DEQ where the stored treated wastewater is applied to alfalfa, wheat and silage corn. The City of Mountain Home has a Class II Idaho Wastewater Treatment System and a Class III Idaho Wastewater Collection System Classification. To maintain a high level of service for our citizens, some of the responsibilities include:

• 
 Maintenance of the collection system consisting of the operation of a two Hydro-Vac Trucks for   cleaning & vacuuming the sewer lines and the operation of a Camera Truck for inspecting the inside of the sewer lines for defects in the pipes or potential blockage, responding to obstructed sewer lines, repairing broken sewer lines, controlling sewer odors, and inspecting & approving private connections to public sewers.
• 
 Maintenance and operation of the wastewater treatment facility includes monitoring the storage lagoons which provide a combination of treatment and storage which have to be large enough to store all the wastewater collected through the winter (non-irrigation) months.
